About Us
TIE
Some brands are inherited. This one is a renaissance.
Craft is usually the first thing left behind when the world speeds up — too slow for a factory line, too quiet for a fashion calendar that resets every quarter. TIE was built to put a stop to that, one artisan and one craft at a time.
The person leading that effort is nineteen, currently reading for his degree at the National
University of Singapore. He grew up around master artisans, watching them work without patterns or manuals, because the technique lived in their hands — passed down over generations, not written down anywhere. At some point, what he'd always taken as ordinary started to look like something worth questioning: why should skill like that stay confined to local markets, when it's good enough for the finest wardrobes in the world?
We work under one idea: India, In Every Direction. South is Koodai, the woven basket craft of Tamil Nadu. East is cane and jute. North is crochet. West is macrame. Four crafts, four directions, one house — and we're still adding to it. We're already working with artisan clusters in more regions of India, bringing new crafts into TIE as we go.
TIE is run for artisans as much as by them. Every piece passes through the hands of craftspeople who've spent years, sometimes decades, mastering their trade. We build in small batches, never mass production, because work like this can't be rushed without losing what makes it worth having.
To us, luxury was never about a logo. It's about the time one person puts into a single piece, in an industry that mostly rewards speed instead.
We choose our materials the same way — jute, cane, wire, vegan leather, crochet yarn — sourced responsibly and worked by hand, cluster by cluster. There's no chain of contractors in between. What you're holding has passed through very few hands before it reached you.
A TIE piece carries a craft older than the fashion industry itself, carried forward by someone young enough to believe it still has a future, and patient enough to let the artisans build it properly.
